Tensile Strength and elongation are the two prime characteristics of most of the raw materials, whether they are metals; or non-metals such as rubber, leather, textiles, plastic paper; or finished products such as rods, wires, ropes, yarns belts etc. These properties very often play a major role in determining the suitability of any raw material for any specific applications. It is, therefore of utmost importance to determine these characteristics accurately, conveniently, and quickly.
The Tensile Testing Machines provide a relatively inexpensive way for determining the tensile strength and elongation of a variety of raw materials such as rubber, leather, fabric, plastics, belts wires etc., They are based on a constant rate of traverse principle in which one end of the test specimen is held in a and screw arrangement. The load exerted on the stationary grip is measured by a pendulum dynamometer, where the angular movement of the pendulum because of application of load is converted into the movement of a pointer on a calibrated circular dial indicating the load directly in kilograms or Newtons. A dummy pointer is provided to indicate the maximum load exerted by the test specimen before it fails. The load measurement range is subdivided into three or four sub-ranges which can be attained by addition/removal of calibrated disc weights from the pendulum.
The elongation of the test specimen is measured on a linear scale fixed on the frame of the tester, which indicates the distance between the grips. Arrangement to plot the load versus elongation chart is available as an optional accessory.

has a sturdy body made of mild steel having a specially designed clamp to hold the fabric for bursting test. The upper clamping surface, which is in contact with the test specimen, has a continuous spiral groove and the lower clamping surface has a number of concentric grooves to minimize the slippage of specimen. A circular diaphragm of synthetic rubber of 1.8mm is clamped between the lower clamping plate & pressure cylinder. The equipment is fitted with a motor driven cam mechanism, which increases fluid displacement on the lower side of the diaphragm at a specified rate. The equipment has an arrangement, which automatically brings down the pressure and stops the motor on completion of the test cycle. Proving Rings _ Compression Type:
They are made out of special steel carefully forged to give maximum strength and machined to give highest sensitivity combined with stability to ensure long life and accuracy. When Compressive or tensile load is applied within the elastic range, the proving rings get temporarily deformed. This deformation is measured by a sensitive dial gauge fixed co-axially at the center of proving ring. The dial gauge readings thus obtained versus load applied enable the operator to find out unknown load, just by noting the dial gauge reading for unknown load. The proving rings have high elasticity and on removing load they regain their original shape provided they are loaded in their elastic limits.
A Dial gauge and plunger anvil is mounted on brackets clamped to the ring body. The dial gauge is held perfectly rigid without the remote chance of shifting due to inadvertent shocks or pressures exerted on it. The dial gauge plunger rests on an adjustable anvil. Proving Rings, from 50 kgf to 1,00,000 kgf capacity provided with 1/2 inch B.S.F female threads. Loading bosses and a loading ball nipple and steel ball are supplied with each ring. Rings of capacity over 25000kgf (or 25 tonnes / 250 kn) are not thus threaded. Each ring is individually calibrated and supplied with works calibration chart and a carrying case.Calibration charts from Standard Laboratories for the Proving Rings ordered are also available at extra cost.

The concrete test hammer is an instrument which is easy to use, for quick and approximate measurement of the resistance to pressure of manufactured concrete products. The principles on which it works are based on the rebound impact of a hammer on a piston which rests against the surface of the concrete products. The Greater the resistance of the concrete, greater is the rebounded impact. By reading this rebound impact on a scale and relating it to curves on graphs supplied with the instrument, the resistance to compression in M Pa or PSI can be found, with 20% of actual.
Specifications:Consists of a barrel in which is housed a hammer mass attached to an impact spring which slides on a guide bar. A plunger is attached to the guide bar which is pressed against the surface to be tested. As the piston is pressed against the surface to be tested, on reaching the compressive strength, the hammer mass is released and rebounds to a certain extent (according to the strength of the surface) which is indicated by a rider on a calibrated scale. A lock button fixed on the body of the hammer locks the rider in place and the rider can be recurred to zero position by using the same button. The equivalent compressive strength can be computed from the chart supplied. Each hammer is calibrated against at standard test hammer, and is suitable for specimen of compressive strengths 100 - 700 kg/cm. The instrument, complete with a grinding stone for polishing the test surface, is supplied in carrying case.

Two jaws of manganese steel are provided in the jaw crusher. The moveable jaw produces two blows for every revolution thus reducing over sizing to a minimum.
